LITERARY CORNER
As an avid reader with dreams of being a writer I enjoy sharing my passion with others.
This section is about what I'm reading now. As usual, I'm juggling several books simultaneously (it's so hard to choose just one!)
The Children's Blizzard by David Laskin.
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke.
Frankenstein: Prodigal Son by Dean Koontz.
The Bridal Connection where I sometimes write under my pen-name, Cynthia Jean.
As a slow reader who enjoys savoring books, I tend to purchase them. But for those who enjoy reading, I highly recommend visiting your local library (while there, consider becoming a member of their Friends and help support the programs and services your library offers). Here is a handy link to find the nearest public library near you: Public Libraries.com
The writing is a bit plodding, but the topic is so fascinating it keeps you turning the pages. This book is about a devastating blizzard that swept through the Dakota-Nebraska prairie on January 13, 1888, leaving hundreds dead -- often just a few feet from the safety of their homes.
The size of this book is daunting (a hefty 782 pages) and it doesn't help that I splurged for the hardback version. But the storyline appears to be a mature, adult version of the Harry Potter books.
Other Books On My Current Reading List
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.
The Rising by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.
