Lewis and Clark: While we formally said farewell to the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial here at the coast in March, new plans are underway to pursue designation of the Columbia-Pacific region as a National Heritage Area. We are pleased to announce that on May 25 a Bill authorizing a National Heritage Area feasibility study was introduced by Senators Gordon Smith (Oregon) and Patty Murray (Washington) and by Congressmen David Wu (Oregon) and Brian Baird (Washington). The website for Destination: The Pacific is being rebuilt to provide more information about our progress, travel planning, and history of the region. The bill numbers are S.3035 and H.R.5485 and can be viewed at Thomas.

Horn Tootin': Mudge was honored with the 2005 Oregon Tourism Volunteer Achievement Award, which was a tremendous testament to the incredible work done by the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Association Board and the hundreds of volunteers who assisted with the bicentennial efforts in Oregon and Washington.

NPS Award: Mudge was presented with a Partnership Achievement Award on June 13, 2005, for her work supporting construction of the Fort To Sea Trail. The Award was presented by the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park Superintendent Chip Jenkins on behalf of the Pacific West Region of the National Park Service and signed by the Regional Director, Jonathan Jarvis.

River Theater: Mudge is chairing the 2006 River Theater Auction taking place Saturday, October 14, at the new Red Building located near the Cannery Pier Hotel in Astoria, Oregon. To donate items or find out more about this event contact Cyndi Mudge

Music Notes: Leanne Trevalyan has recorded her latest CD, "Half Naked," which was hot off the digital press at the May Sunbanks Blues Festival. The songwriting, singing, instrumentals and overall package is simply outstanding. With each song I think, "that's my favorite," until the next one starts to play and quickly replaces the top ranking. This is one of those rare CDs that is a hit from first to last on the play list. There isn't a clinker in the bunch.
