Why Spelvin?
The name "spelvin" comes from my background in theatre. When I first discovered online communities back in 1995, the name "spelvin" seemed a fitting handle for my first AOL nick. George/Georgina Spelvin is the name stage actors used when they wanted to work a show anonymously. It is a name that isn't used as often now, but I remember knowing a few "spelvins" cropping up in various shows. Typically, they were actors playing more than one role in a play or they were union actors who were working non-union theatre houses.Who's FO?
As for FO....that's a different story. It stands for Frozen Over. A name I took on when I first entered the graphical chat world of Palace. It was an inside joke with myself. I had once told friends I would go online, "when hell freezes over." By the time I found Palace, I was an online junkie. So my first avatar was an ice cube with devil horns and pitchfork and the name "Frozen Over." The name stuck and I eventually became known simply as FO.Although I'm no longer a "junkie," I still enjoy cyberculture and occasionally beta-test new programs. A few friends from Palace live nearby and we still get together for real time coffee and chat. However, much of my spare time these days is spent reading, painting, or working on the house.
